i have a black hair and it's about medium length.

i want to highlight it but i don't know what color.

your hair sounds like my hair =) during the winter i put red highlights in my hair and it looked really good and ive always wanted to put copper ones in =) eitehr of those would be cute =)

If you are under 25, do anything you want! If you are over 30 or so, your hair should never be lighted over two shades of your natural hair color. Young, anything goes, but I like it to look natural as if the sun highlighted it. As for dark or black hair, don;t do anything too striking or it will look hard.

I have darker hair also and placed some red almost burnt color highlights in it and it looked awesome... Almost any color of highlights would bring out your eyes and skin color try a red if your darker complected maybe a softer blonde for lighter complection... Maybe even try some temporary colors to see what looks best then your not stuck with something you dont like.You could also take a picture of yourself and go to clairol.com and try out different colors there to.. well my hair is black and medium length too. I also have highlights. I found out that a dark brown and a burgandy color are the best on black hair. those two colors complement your hair and makes it pretty.do not even attempt to die it blonde because you will have to bleach it a lot, and when our hair is died blonde it looks like burnt cheese.

do not do them gold, the best look will be lots of thin-medium beach highlights.

try platinum...its defintely a strong look...but it would look nice...just a few highlights here and there..the contrast would be incredible and eye catching

With black hair I would probobaly go with blonde highlights. If you dont mind I think that Pink would work to...That is the color of my hair and I get comments on it all the time!!
